Valdez July 29 2013 Grizzle Bear Part 2 of 3

This is part 2 of the Grizzly Bears.  The clubs have learned a lot about fishing in just one day.  They feed about 2 times a day at the turning of high tide.  This is when the fish are the closes to the fish ladder (the bears favorite place to fish.)   Mommy bear is starting to move away from the clubs to see how well they can fish on their own.  The following pictures were taken a very short distance (around 10 feet) from their location.  We were lucky that the bears had a very large food supply and that most of the people used good sense in getting their pictures, but there is always a few that get too close.

Mommy grizzly bears has returned with her 4 clubs.

Little cub get the fish that is jumping behind you.

The clubs are learning how to eat a salmon.
learning

Do you think the fish will jump closer to me?

 I am hungry!

Mommy can I have your fish?

Where did the salmon go?

I think I will just wait for the salmon to come to me.

Mommy got one.

If I sit here and eat the salmon, then I will not have to share with my clubs.

Here comes one of my clubs.   Can I eat this before he gets here?

Will it be easier to get the salmon in the fish ladder?

How do I get down there?

This is not as easy as I thought.

I got a salmon

That was good, where do I put the bones?

Look at all the salmon.

Kids it is time to go back into the woods.

Finally, I the clubs are ready to go back to the woods.

Mommy bear waiting for her clubs to finish playing by the road.    She knows how to hide.

OK, we had to come back for the second time today.  The salmon are very good.

I going to get the salmon from the fish ladder somehow.

I got the salmon from the fish ladder.

Did I smell something.

I better go check out this new smell.  Did the black bear come back?

Did it go this way.

OK I can watch my clubs from up here and wait for the black bear.

I still don’t smell any black bears.
